Top Five Gatorade Flavors

Ever since scientists at the University of Florida first concocted it in 1965, Gatorade has been the most popular sports drink out there. Some flavors have been mainstays throughout the company’s history, but others have come and gone. Today, I’m going to share my picks for the top 5 Gatorade flavors.

Honorable Mentions

Before diving into the five best, let’s examine some other good flavors that just weren’t good enough to make the cut.

Fruit Punch

One of the most classic flavors, fruit punch has been around for an awfully long time. Unfortunately, this is one that you have to be in the mood for.

Glacier Freeze

A pretty solid flavor for big gulps and refreshment. However, the taste can only be described as “blue.”

Flow Kiwi Strawberry

I’ve only had this one a couple times, but I think it’s pretty good. The flavors and sweetness are a bit subtler, making it apt for true refreshment.

Fierce Grape

This flavor is pretty intense, although it, like many other grape-flavored treats, doesn’t really taste like grapes. Now, let’s get to the best flavors.

The Top 5 Flavors

#5: Fierce Strawberry

Nowadays you’d be lucky to find a bottle of this stuff, but when you’re able to, you’re in for one of the most underrated flavors in the entire Gatorade catalog. The balance of sweet and tart is perfect, and it’s incredibly refreshing.

#4: Lemon Lime

One of the most iconic flavors, Lemon Lime has been a fan favorite ever since it was first introduced in the late 60s. That classic, citrusy punch has kept people coming back for years, and it’s also perfect for when you’re feeling a bit under the weather.

#3: Orange

This used to be one of my favorite flavors, then I went through a period of not liking it as much, but now I’m back to loving the classic orange variety. Strangely enough, this may be the only flavor that is actually better over ice (at least in my opinion, anyway). A truly spectacular drink.

#2: Riptide Rush

The beautiful light purple hue, the not-as-overpowering hints of grape, the delightful sweetness, all of these combine to make a primo Gatorade flavor. Unfortunately, it seems like its presence has waned a bit over the years. PepsiCo, you better keep this one!

#1: Fierce Melon

I can’t really explain why I like this one so much, but I know that it is truly the best flavor out there. With the hints of cantaloupe, the nice sweetness, and the beautiful dark orange hue, this one is sure to kill your thirst.

That’s it! Disagree with me? Let me know in the comments what your favorite flavors are! Make sure you check out all the other content here on the site, as well as our weekly playlist. See you all next time!
