Top 5 WTF Moments in Gears of War 2.

10 years late to the game I just beat Gears of War 2. Pretty spectacular. Thanks to the X-BOX Game Pass I’m getting to revisit some great games that I’ve missed out on. Ten bucks a month for over a hundred games, including many Grass releases like Halo and Gears it’s a really good deal.

Gears 2 had plenty of big, over the top moments. Here’s my top 5. Oh and spoilers for a 10 year old game.

1. Locust experiment.

It’s pretty messed up when Delta gets underground. The Locust have been capturing humans for experimentations. Tai, who was with Delta as the game started had been left behind and shows up in a cage on a “torture barge.” Once Marcus and the guys rescue him, he’s obviously been traumatized and he reaches for Marcus’s shot gun and blows his own head off. Damn Tai.

2. Riftworm.

As you progress down the Locust tunnels you see some pretty large caterpillar like creatures moving aorund the can serve as mobile cover for Delta Squad.

Well after fighting for quite some time, cities above ground are being sunk to the caverns believe Sera. You discover a giant version of the rockworms is causing the the destruction. Now that’s a pretty bad ass thing. I mean I know Tremors is a long scfi franchise, but I was surprised by this in this game. Well another Carmine brother gets eaten by the giant worm and as the rest of Delta is escaping, the monster rises up and swallows your Raven chopper whole.

You of course survive the chomping and then have to fight your way out of the monster, and hey

Some People Should Not Give Style/Fashion Advice

I have a confession to make. I love watching men’s fashion and style videos on YouTube. I consider myself to be a relatively well-dressed guy and I’m always looking for new, creative outfit ideas and new clothing, shoes, etc. to try out. This leads me to the unfortunate discovery I made a few days ago. I encountered a video entitled “19 Things Men Should Never Wear” uploaded by a channel called Gentleman’s Gazette. The channel has nearly 350,000 subscribers, which led me to believe it was a credible channel and that the video was worth watching. Boy, was I wrong.

The creator of the channel, Sven Raphael Schneider is hands down the most uppity, pretentious and overall jerkish human being that I have ever encountered on YouTube, and that includes Logan and Jake Paul. At one point in the video, he actually says that wearing a certain style of clothing makes you look like a “peasant”. Throughout the video, Schneider continues to degrade all different sorts of styles. I was so put off by this clown and his video that I held off on uploading what I planned to upload this week just to talk about this joke of a video, this joke of a YouTube video, and this joke of a person. I am someone who believes that someone should be free to dress however they please and never be judged for it. On the flip side of that, I also believe that criticizing what someone wears, especially in the excessively stuck-up and rude way that Schneider did, opens you up to any amount of criticism. Therefore, I would like to point out that the guy has mixed the baggy suits of the 90’s with the obscenely outdated styles of 1930’s formal wear in such a way that I want to gouge out my eyes with a spoon every time I look at it.

If you want to subject yourself to the kind of torture I endured at the hands of this video, I have linked it down below. Thanks for reading. Check out some of the other content here on Mid-American Culture!

Why is nothing happening lately?

This post is going to be relatively short. It’s essentially going to me discussing my issues with writing over the last couple of weeks. In part, I blame my very busy life. As a full-time student with a part time job, I rely heavily on detailed time management as it is. Over the last couple of weeks, I have been moving and I partially blame that on my lack of inspiration for good content. That part is entirely on me. I have not been able to do research to create anything worth sharing. This is totally on me and I apologize.

The other half of blame goes to the fact that there is nothing really happening in the pop-culture or political world that I have deemed worth writing about. No artists I really care about are releasing new music in the immediate future. The Carter V is due to release tonight but it’s going to be a letdown no matter what due to the extended time fans have had to spend waiting for its release. I won’t have anything of substance to write about in regards to politics until closer to the midterm elections, barring something unforeseen. The controversy surrounding Brett Kavanaugh is big news right now, but my take on that doesn’t warrant a full article. Sexual assault is bad and someone who has been accused of it by multiple women shouldn’t be appointed to a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court. That’s fairly obvious to any sane human being. I’m not deep into any new TV shows, I haven’t seen any good movies lately, and frankly for this week, I’ve got nothing. I’m working on a long-term article for Mid-American Culture but it’s nowhere near ready to be published. And so, I have decided to take this opportunity to rant to our readers about my lack of content this week. Blame it on me. Blame it on my busy schedule. Blame it on nothing big in the entertainment world. However, that’s the life of a writer. We all hit writers block from time to time, whatever the cause may be. Next week, I will be back in my usual form brining you some fire content. In the meantime, check out some of the other great content here on Mid-American Culture!

Where Is Jimmy Buckets Going?

Hello everybody and welcome back to the Mid-American page. Before you get confused, no, it is not Friday. Due to the fact we are currently looking for writers, I have switched to Tuesday. With that being said, if you want to apply to write for Mid-American culture, shoot us a message on our twitter! With that out of the way, this week the basketball world was pretty shaken up when Timberwolves superstar, Jimmy Buttler demanded a trade. The world was not surprised that he wanted out, but the candidates he selected were random. Butler narrowed down his trade demands to the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, and the Los Angelos Clippers. The star guard is very talented. Butler can handle the ball, somewhat shoot, very strong body, and still hustles and plays hard on the defensive end.

The Timberwolves have done everything to try and keep this talented group together. The measures they have taken is partly bringing back the old Chicago team with the head coach, Tom Thibodeau, and former MVP point guard, Derrick Rose. However, if I am not mistaking, Butler did not enjoy his time with Rose. Another factor I see being an issue with Butler is that a very talented and young wing player in Andrew Wiggins could step in and take over at any time. Let’s begin to look at where Butler should go, and why he may have requested to be traded.

The New York Knicks

The picture kind of gives away why I think he is going there. it is no mystery that Kyrie and Butler have some sort of bromance and want to team up. Meeting up in New York would be a no-brainer for this move. Kyrie would not have to be a pre-Madona because he would be the best player on the team, Butler gets somebody to play with, All-star forward, Kristaps Porzingis, would fit perfectly. Also, they have a lot of cap space; therefore, everybody is getting paid. Not to mention, Kevin Knox was selected by the Knicks, and has torn it up in the summer league and looks impressive in the workouts. I see Butler wanting to play in New York was a very Melo-like mindset. Money, atmosphere, and talent; however, I think this would play out the same way. Butler, Irving, Porzingis, and Knox could make a run at the Larry O’Brien but would get swept by the Warriors.

The Brooklyn Nets

I mean they could get Kyrie too due to the cap space, but then Kyrie will be presented with the same issue he has in Boston, a young talented backup that could take his spot due to how injury prone he is. The Nets have a pretty talented young core, but I see Butler’s interest in being purely money based. I do not see this move working out, and I do not see them getting higher than the seventh seed in the East.

The Los Angeles Clippers

Another money biased move. There is no way to bring another superstar in; therefore, his supporting cast would be Lou Williams and Tobias Harris. Yes, they are good, but not good enough to get anywhere. They would 100% miss the playoffs.

Where He Should Go

If Butler wants to win, get paid, and have a young core for a long time, Philly is the place. They also would have the atmosphere that he may get from the Knicks. Where Butler would be the most senior starter, it would kind of be his team, but only for a little while. This move would be deadly and could make noise in the NBA.

What do you think? Where is Jimmy Buckets going? Let us know down in the comments! As always thank you for spending apart of your Fri, shit, Tuesday with me. Stay tuned for more fresh daily content from myself and the rest of the Mid-American crew.

An Autumn Sonnet for Your Saturday.

Good morning everyone, happy first day of Fall. This time of year is my favorite and not just because I’m basic and Starbucks changes their menu. I love the cooling temperatures and the harvest moon. I love the colors and getting to wear a favorite hoodie.

Today is also a good day to get some Shakespeare in. As are most days. We can guess Shakespeare’s Birthday to April 1564. We know he was baptized on April 26th according to church records. There is lots we don’t know before we get to his acting and playwright days. However in some lost years of his youth, we know young William Shakespeare was a poet and produced a quantity of poems or Sonnets. Today I share one for the start of my favorite season.

Sonnet 73: That time of year thou mayst in me behold

That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare ruin’d choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.
In me thou see’st the twilight of such day
As after sunset fadeth in the west,
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death’s second self, that seals up all in rest.
In me thou see’st the glowing of such fire
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the death-bed whereon it must expire,
Consum’d with that which it was nourish’d by.
This thou perceiv’st, which makes thy love more strong,
To love that well which thou must leave ere long.

Have a great weekend and keep up to date with Mid-American-Culture!

What Kind Of Blasphemy Did the NBA Put Out Today?

Hello everybody and welcome back to the Mid-American page. It’s not even basketball season and I am already heated about the NBA. Specifically their “Top 10 Players” rankings. With that being said, let’s get into this.

I’m sure a lot of you all are thinking, “I don’t see anything wrong with this list,” but, in my honest opinion, this list is bullshit. In what world is Steph and Harden better than KD? Yes, they can shoot and handle the ball, but imagine having an almost seven foot tall version of them. Oh wait, there is. KD is a better scorer than both of them, better on defense, and can guard every single position on the court. There’s is issue number one.

Second issue there is a monumental snub in Karl-Anothy Towns. Towns is one of the youngest and the premier big in the league. Don’t get me wrong, Embiid is good, but not better than Towns. Towns stretches the floor, has slick post moves, strong, and is one of the leagues best rim protectors.

The last issue, that I think is huge, is that Kawhi is better than Giannis. Yes, Kawhi selflessly sat out all last season in an attempt to get out of San Antonio. Kawhi is another player who does everything and can do that with anybody on the team. Giannis is still developing his game, and will be better one day. However, I said one day.

What do you think of the list? Let us know down in the comments! Thank you for spending a part of your Friday with me and the rest of the Mid-American crew. As always, stay tuned for more fresh daily content.
